Nocturne Observatory

The word Nocturne has two definitions... (1) a short composition of a romantic or dreamy character suggestive of night, and (2) a picture of a night scene. Both definitions perfectly fit my feelings about my backyard observatory, thus I chose the name "Nocturne Observatory".

At night, with the roof open, Nocturne Observatory is a great place to collect old photons which I use to create images of beautiful and distant heavenly objects. Some of these photons have been traveling through space for millions of years, only to end their long journey on the chip of my CCD camera. I built the observatory from scratch in my back yard (you can see the process here.), and I love it!
